Oh, and, I need your advice. Which of these night stands should I save up for?

Keep in mind I’m looking for practicality as well as looks. I need room on the top for both my fan and my clock, and I need somewhere to put my books, naturally. And right now I stick my computer under my bed at night when I put it away (during the day I just leave it on my bed), and I would like an official little place to put it. I don’t much like leaving it on the floor under my bed. Your opinions are much appreciated!

I can’t believe there are only three days until Christmas. Why do things always pass so quickly? I don’t really mind that Christmas will be over in a matter of days now, really it’s been kind of stressful for me this year, since I’ve been doing the parent’s stockings with Stephanie, and I’ve been worried that they won’t be finished in time. Thankfully we’ve finished them now, and I can’t believe we pulled it off. I think they’re pretty good, to be honest. So I’m less stressed out now. The main reason I don’t want Christmas to be over is because the tree is so pretty, and I like reading under it. Other then that I won’t be overly sad to see it go. Naturally I’m excited for presents and whatever, like everyone, but it doesn’t seem like such a big deal to me, and I almost wish we didn’t have to bother with them. Almost.
So anyways, I just thought I’d drop by and say hello, see what you’re all up to. I did write out a blog the other day, it was a rant of sorts on The Princess and the Frog, but once I got it out of my system I didn’t feel the need to post it any longer.
And in case you were wondering, I still intend to post on Apricotpie more now. I mentioned it before, and I thought maybe you were wondering now that NaNoWriMo is over where all my posts over there are. I’ve decided to start posting in January. It’ll be like a new start for me. So we’ll see how it goes.
Also, I’ve been assembling a playlist of lovely, classic Disney music to listen to, and I’m currently very pleased with it. I think it’s funny because I’m sitting out in the living room right now and I’m listening to Kiss The Girl from The Little Mermaid and just typing away at my keyboard, as if it’s perfectly normal to be listening to Disney music. I just think it’s kind of funny. And now Prince Ali from Aladdin is on. I also find it funny that I like the music from Aladdin so much, when I never even watched the movie when I was a kid. The first time I ever saw Aladdin wasn’t even that long ago, only a couple years really. Anyway, I’m sure I could talk on this subject forever, but I think I’ll not, I’m sure you would find it much less amusing than I. All this Disney music however has really made me want to watch Beauty and the Beast, Anastasia, The Swan Princess, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, and quite a few more.
And that is really all I have to say. Merry Christmas everyone!
It could be worse. Or not. But I’m sure it could be worse.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s been pretty cold lately. And I don’t mean a little nippy with your breath swirling about your face when you’re outside, I mean ice freaking cold with your breath freezing when it hits the air and falling to the ground like a bird who’s run into a glass window. Okay, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but just barely. It’s never been this cold before, not that I can remember, even last year when we had that massive snow storm that left us with two some odd feet of snow (something previously unheard of for us) it never got half as cold as this. It’s so cold it gets down into the teens at night and doesn’t make it above freezing during the day. And what’s really not fair about this whole situation is that it’s absolutely gorgeous outside, the sun is shining and the sky is completely clear, which of course means we have to put up with this hideous cold and we don’t even get to enjoy snow. I know what you’re thinking, and you’re right, it’s not fair at all. We heat our house with a woodstove and it normally gets to like eighty degrees in the house easily, but lately it doesn’t get above 74, and that’s just in the living room, in the extremities of the house (e.g. my bedroom) it doesn’t get into the seventies. So basically all this talking so far has been leading up to a story I have to relate to you, a story that is in fact true, and it is a story about what happened last night, and as you may have guessed, it has largely to do with the frozen-tundra like weather.
It all started around eleven PM. It was some time now after my father had gone to bed, and my sister had gone up to her room, it was just my mom and I, and she was sitting out in the living room, reading I think. I was just taking a shower, minding my own business and washing my hair, as you do. I was just beginning to rinse my hair out when all of a sudden the hot water coming out of the shower head suddenly ceased to come out. With my hair still full of shampoo this naturally concerned me, and my first thought was that the power had gone out, but then I realized, no, that can’t be it, as the water works fine when the power’s out, and the lights are still on. So I grabbed my towel and hopped out of the shower and I went to ask my mom what on earth was going on. Now at the same moment the water went out in the shower my mom was getting my kitty something to drink, and the water suddenly disappeared on her. So there was me, cold and wet and with soap in my hair and the only water to use to rinse it out was a bit of cold water left over in our jug from work, and my mom also had a glass of water she hadn’t finished. It was around eleven thirty at this point and all the stores nearby were closed. So we took what water we had and my mom rinsed my hair out over the sink with incredibly cold water, and then she went to wake up my father, and call my sister to inform her about our little problem. Naturally we came to the conclusion that some pipe somewhere must be frozen, preventing the water to get inside. So a very grumpy just-got-woken-up-to-bad-news father went and checked some pipes and did something or other outside in the 18 degree weather of which I’m not quite sure of, and when he came back inside he was at a loss as to what we should do, and we were all in a rather bad mood. The tank in the pump house was found to be empty, and after a while of brainstorming we figured it must be the pipes that pump the water from underground into the tank, where they stick above ground that were frozen. Then my mom went outside and found some containers on the back porch that were filled with now frozen water and put them in front of the wood stove to melt, so at least we might be able to flush the toilet. Then I got my computer, and being very cold I played around with my weather widget and through it traveled vicariously to warmer places, such as Miami, Florida which was at the time some 75 degrees with a high for the next day of eighty something. I was drooling, and wishing that there were some way I could transport there in an instant. At one point I decided to go to Jamaica, but ended up going to a place in Iowa, called Jamaica, where it was below zero degrees (and looking at it now it’s 8 degrees) and I felt slightly less cold. It was all very fun, but we still had no running water. After a while of brainstorming my father decided to take his shop light (at the suggestion of my mom an I) which puts off a considerable amount of heat into the pump house pointing in the direction of the pipes we assumed were frozen, hoping they were in fact where the problem was, and that the heat would melt them so we could have water again. Sure enough about a half hour later I tried the sink in the kitchen out of curiosity to see if the water was going yet, and it WAS. We screamed, we shouted for joy, we joined hands and danced a jig around the room!! Okay, all of that was a lie, but we were all quite happy and relieved. Of course our water was funky coloured for some reason or other for a while (it was explained to me why this was but naturally I’ve forgotten by now). If it hadn’t been for me taking a shower and using up the rest of the water in the tank we wouldn’t have found out about the frozen pipes until morning when they were completely solid and it would have taken much longer to thaw. So I guess you could say we got pretty lucky that it wasn’t worse than it was. All in all it was quite the experience, but we came out of it unscathed.
Also, funny story, BEFORE all this happened the fam and I went to see Katie’s recital for band and after the thing was over we were kind of standing around trying to stay out of people’s way and waiting for Katie to come find us so we could head out, when suddenly a young man walked by me, a man with the tattoo of the outline of state of California on the side of his face. The VERY SAME man I saw in a Ross once, and my father and I had a little debate on whether or not he was a complete idiot. I believe I even blogged about it here a while ago (quite a while ago now that I come to think about it, and I WOULD go find it for you and link you to it, but I can’t really be bothered). WHAT A SMALL WORLD, RIGHT? I think I’m going to start a fan page on Facebook for this guy, and call it “The Guy With The Outline Of The State Of California Tattooed On The Side Of His Face”. There wont be a picture of him immediately, that’ll come after several months of stalking.
By the way, what do you think of Rhode Island as a possibility for face tattooing?
Wake up, it’s the first of December.

It’s crazy, I know. November is completely and irrevocably gone… until next year. This November has been something of an adventure for me, what with NaNoWriMo, and I am both sad and happy that it’s over. I finished my ‘novel’ on the 29th at 74,201 words, and on the thirtieth I did so little writing, it felt weird. Not having that hanging over my head, “Gotta write another thousand words still, no time to watch tv/play on the internet/play video games/stare at the wall/procrastinate.” Yet I did all of that anyways and I still managed to finish. Honestly, I was never really worried about finishing. October 31st I was incredibly nervous and I was positive I would fail, but once I started I knew I would keep going until it was done, and that I could do it in 30 days. Luckily for me my writer’s block never lasted for whole days, but merely hours before I was pushing through and getting somewhere again. It was a really interesting feeling, not going back and editing, and changing practically everything, but just continuing no matter what. I had so many different and new ideas while writing, things I could throw in to make the story more interesting, or some good character building scenes, or some insane curve balls that’d completely throw you off, but I couldn’t go back and add them because there simply wasn’t time. I’m both looking forward to and dreading the revisions I have to make to the story. I’m dreading it because I’m afraid that now that I don’t have a legit deadline to get it done in it wont get done at all, but I’m going to try really hard to keep writing every day, no matter what it is. And just so you all know now and don’t have to ask, no, I’m not going to let anyone read my book, or post it up anywhere/publish it. Absolutely no a thousand times over. Image all 74,201 words, and they are all no. I hope I’ve made that clear enough for you. I’m not being mean, and I’m not doing that putting myself down thing where everything I do is never good enough. This novel of mine is seriously not good enough quality for anyone to read but myself. Maybe someday, but still, probably not. That’s the way it is, there is no point trying to change my mind. Your attempts would be futile.
So, let’s list some things I discovered/got out of NaNoWriMo.
1) The ability to write lots and lots, even though the product is generally terrible.
2) Shorter fingernails (you didn’t think it was possible, did you?).
3) A love of instrumental music, specifically the band Explosions in the Sky.
4) The desire to actually write well some day.
5) A new and perfectly legitimate obsession for the movie Tarzan.
6) Quite possibly an inclination to blog more often.
I must have gotten more out of it than that but that’s really all I can think of at the moment. Honestly this blog has absolutely no direction, I’m just writing for the sake of writing because I missed the way it feels to have my fingers flying across the keyboard. Already I’m suffering from typing withdrawals. This is decidedly a good thing. I am really looking forward to being able to read again though, I have three books out from the library, all of which need to be finished asap. In fact, I’m going to go see which of them need renewing now. Be right back.
Dangit. Tales from the Perilous realm was/is overdue. It wouldn’t let me renew it, or Green, and Green is due today, while Tales from the Perilous Realm was due on the 23rd. Now I owe over eight dollars in fines. I think I’ll call my dad and ask him to take those back today, I’ll just place new holds on them, I’ve certainly got plenty to read in the mean time, what with that Roald Dahl box set of mine. And at least I still have Unfinished Tales to read, since I’ve actually started it, it would suck having to take it back now.
Alright, so I’m going to go call my father and ask him to do that for me, so I will say goodbye to you now, sorry for this long, weak blog, I just needed to write something.

I thought it would be fun to post my Christmas list here, just so you can see what I want this year, whether you get me anything or not, and also so I can put in some convenient links next to the things that need to be bought on line, for those who aren’t as internet savvy as I. So without further ado, I give you:
